CO11 and ACPO at Brighton

FITwatch are here publishing details and photographs of public order cops that had on-the-ground responsibility for implementing the cordons and kettles, and the use of batons, pepper spray and dogs against EDO protesters in Brighton last June and October. They are all regular faces, and well known to FITwatch, although we do not yet have names for all of them.

Many of them were seen at the Smash ITT demo in October hitting demonstrators with batons, particularly 2058 and Paul Mather . Steve Discombe appeared to be directing a dog team against protesters on the hill behing EDO, at the time when a working journalist was bitten by a police dog.

Others seemed keen to direct pepper spray at faces that they knew.

The cop that displays the number 1818 was allegedly involved in raiding the houses of people arrested (and later acquitted) at previous demonstrations.

Given the fuss over the G20 policing for Brighton's mayday could be very different from previous events, and these thugs might be told to stay at home. But just in case they do turn up, it's good to be informed about the type of people we are dealing with.

If you have any information about any of these cops - perhaps you have taken a complaint against them, or have statements from them relating to court cases - please let us know.

Given that there was a full complement of London FIT out today for the (anarchist) Mayday rally in London - including CW2073, Cowlin, Palfrey, Discombe and 'Fat Dan' Collins - who were accompanied by CS49 among others, I think it's a fair bet that there'll be the usual mindless minority hellbent on violence out on Monday.

I love how all of these kid of blogs there are "donate to us" links on them. Funny how the message is anti-greed, but yet you're all out for as much as you can get - both publicity and money.

just spotted a team outside Hove Town hall filming the place, 2 officers, 1 4x4, could see their numbers but they had orange on their shoulders instead of the blue/yellow you get...hope that's some help for some one. They have left when i walked back

FITwatch, like any other political campaign, takes money to run. Activists that promote FITwatch spend a lot of their own money producing flyers and publicity, travelling to meetings, running workshops etc. We would like to do a lot more of all of these things, but we have serious money constraints.

We are certainly not in 'profit', nor ever expect to be. We would like to raise some money just so the financial burden of this campaign does not fall quite so heavily on just a few people, and so we can expand the work that we do.

FITwatch has been a very successful campaign, with real, tangible results. People have a much greater understanding now about the extent of police surveillance, and what it means to them, which is why FIT teams are increasingly not tolerated at political gatherings and demonstrations.

We are very grateful for the donations we have so far received, but would (of course!) welcome more. If anyone feels able to contribute, please do!

Its ok because all property is theft so by using their own money they are just leveling the playing field.

PC1558. Animal Rights Copper. Name is PC MARTIN FOSTER. Only a PC.

Senior Police Judo Champion 2006/7
Gets really freaked out when you know stuff like this ;)

says he 'Loves living the batchelor life'

Has also been involved in various home raids.

If you see him at EDO, make sure you mention the Judo to him because he told us once he hates people knowing as much about him as he does about us.

Ian Skivens told me after he had gone through my pockets when I was filming the National Front that he would join the anarchists if he could have longer holidays and bigger truncheons.

I think he has a complex about his truncheon.
